Blood Urea Nitrogen
BUN | Nitrogen, Blood Urea | Urea Nitrogen, Blood
The urea concentration of the blood stated in terms of nitrogen content. Serum (plasma) urea nitrogen is approximately 12% higher than blood urea nitrogen concentration because of the greater protein content of red blood cells. Increases in blood or serum urea nitrogen are referred to as azotemia and may have prerenal, renal, or postrenal causes. (From Saunders Dictionary & Encyclopedia of Laboratory Medicine and Technology, 1984) |

Urease
Phytourease | Urea Amidohydrolase | Amidohydrolase, Urea
An enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of urea and water to carbon dioxide and ammonia. EC 3.5.1.5. |
|
Herbicides, Urea
Urea Herbicides
Herbicides which owe their activity to the urea moiety in the molecule. |

Phosphotungstic Acid
Acid, Phosphotungstic
Tungsten hydroxide oxide phosphate. A white or slightly yellowish-green, slightly efflorescent crystal or crystalline powder. It is used as a reagent for alkaloids and many other nitrogen bases, for phenols, albumin, peptone, amino acids, uric acid, urea, blood, and carbohydrates. (From Merck Index, 11th ed) |

Arginase
Arginase A1 | Arginase A4 | Hepatic Proliferation Inhibitor | Liver Immunoregulatory Protein | Liver-Derived Inhibitory Protein | Liver-Derived Lymphocyte Proliferation Inhibiting Protein | Immunoregulatory Protein, Liver
A ureahydrolase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of arginine or canavanine to yield L-ORNITHINE and urea. Deficiency of this enzyme causes HYPERARGININEMIA. EC 3.5.3.1. |
|
Ornithine
2,5-Diaminopentanoic Acid | Ornithine Dihydrochloride, (L)-Isomer | Ornithine Hydrochloride, (D)-Isomer | Ornithine Hydrochloride, (DL)-Isomer | Ornithine Hydrochloride, (L)-Isomer | Ornithine Monoacetate, (L)-Isomer | Ornithine, (D)-Isomer
An amino acid produced in the urea cycle by the splitting off of urea from arginine. |
|
Blood Transfusion
Blood Transfusions | Transfusion, Blood | Transfusions, Blood
The introduction of whole blood or blood component directly into the blood stream. (Dorland, 27th ed) |
|
Blood Cell Count
Blood Cell Number | Blood Count, Complete | Blood Cell Counts | Blood Cell Numbers | Blood Counts, Complete | Complete Blood Count | Complete Blood Counts | Count, Blood Cell | Count, Complete Blood | Counts, Blood Cell | Counts, Complete Blood
A count of the number of leukocytes and erythrocytes per unit volume in a sample of venous blood. A complete blood count (CBC) also includes measurement of the hemoglobin, hematocrit, and erythrocyte indices. |
|
Blood Physiology
Physiology, Blood | Blood Physiologies | Physiologies, Blood
Observable characteristics of blood activities and functions, such as BLOOD GROUPS, coagulation processes, etc. |
|
Blood Coagulation
Blood Clotting | Blood Coagulation Effects | Coagulation, Blood | Effects, Blood Coagulation | Blood Clottings | Blood Coagulation Effect | Clotting, Blood | Effect, Blood Coagulation
The process of the interaction of blood coagulation factors that results in an insoluble fibrin clot. |
