Immunologic Deficiency Syndromes

Antibody Deficiency Syndrome | Deficiency Syndrome, Immunologic | Deficiency Syndromes, Antibody | Deficiency Syndromes, Immunologic | Immunologic Deficiency Syndrome | Immunological Deficiency Syndromes | Antibody Deficiency Syndromes

Syndromes in which there is a deficiency or defect in the mechanisms of immunity, either cellular or humoral.

Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

AIDS | Immunodeficiency Syndrome, Acquired | Immunologic Deficiency Syndrome, Acquired | Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome | Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome | Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome | Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndromes

An acquired defect of cellular immunity associated with infection by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), a CD4-positive T-lymphocyte count under 200 cells/microliter or less than 14% of total lymphocytes, and increased susceptibility to opportunistic infections and malignant neoplasms. Clinical manifestations also include emaciation (wasting) and dementia. These elements reflect criteria for AIDS as defined by the CDC in 1993.

Severe Combined Immunodeficiency

Bare Lymphocyte Syndrome | Immunodeficiency, Severe Combined | SCID | Immunodeficiency Syndrome, Severe Combined | Immunologic Deficiency, Severe Combined | Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Syndrome | Severe Combined Immunologic Deficiency

Group of rare congenital disorders characterized by impairment of both humoral and cell-mediated immunity, leukopenia, and low or absent antibody levels. It is inherited as an X-linked or autosomal recessive defect. About half of the patients with autosomal recessive SCID are deficient in the enzyme adenosine deaminase.

Leukocyte-Adhesion Deficiency Syndrome

Deficiency Syndrome, Leukocyte-Adhesion | Deficiency Syndrome, Leukocyte Adhesion | Deficiency Syndromes, Leukocyte-Adhesion | Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency Syndrome | Leukocyte-Adhesion Deficiency Syndromes

Rare, autosomal recessive disorder caused by deficiency of the beta 2 integrin receptors (RECEPTORS, LEUKOCYTE-ADHESION) comprising the CD11/CD18 family of glycoproteins. The syndrome is characterized by abnormal adhesion-dependent functions, especially defective tissue emigration of neutrophils, leading to recurrent infection.

Factor XI Deficiency

Hemophilia C | PTA Deficiency | Rosenthal Syndrome | Deficiency, Factor XI | Deficiency, PTA | Rosenthal' | s Syndrome | Deficiencies, Factor XI | Deficiencies, PTA | Factor XI Deficiencies | PTA Deficiencies | Rosenthal Syndromes

A deficiency of blood coagulation factor XI (known as plasma thromboplastin antecedent or PTA or antihemophilic factor C) resulting in a systemic blood-clotting defect called hemophilia C or Rosenthal's syndrome, that may resemble classical hemophilia. (Dorland, 27th ed)

Murine Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

AIDS, Murine | MAIDS | Murine AIDS | Murine Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome | Murine Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome | AIDSs, Murine | Murine AIDSs | Murine Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome

Acquired defect of cellular immunity that occurs in mice infected with mouse leukemia viruses (MuLV). The syndrome shows striking similarities with human AIDS and is characterized by lymphadenopathy, profound immunosuppression, enhanced susceptibility to opportunistic infections, and B-cell lymphomas.

Immunologic Tests

Diagnosis, Immunological | Immunodiagnosis | Diagnosis, Immunologic | Immunologic Diagnosis | Immunologic Test | Immunological Tests | Tests, Immunologic | Diagnoses, Immunologic | Diagnoses, Immunological | Immunodiagnoses | Immunologic Diagnoses

Diagnostic techniques involving the demonstration or measurement of an immune response, including antibody production or assay, antigen-antibody reactions, serologic cross-reactivity, delayed hypersensitivity reactions, or heterogenetic responses.

Simian Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

AIDS, Simian | SAIDS | Simian AIDS | Simian Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome | Simian Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome | AIDSs, Simian | Simian AIDSs | Simian Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome

Acquired defect of cellular immunity that occurs naturally in macaques infected with SRV serotypes, experimentally in monkeys inoculated with SRV or MASON-PFIZER MONKEY VIRUS; (MPMV), or in monkeys infected with SIV.

Dysgammaglobulinemia

Dysgammaglobulinemias

An immunologic deficiency state characterized by selective deficiencies of one or more, but not all, classes of immunoglobulins.

Feline Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

AIDS, Feline | FAIDS | Feline AIDS | Feline Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome | Feline Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome | Feline Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome

Acquired defect of cellular immunity that occurs in cats infected with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and in some cats infected with feline leukemia virus (FeLV).
