An acute or chronic gingival infection characterized by redness and swelling, necrosis extending from the interdental papillae along the gingival margins, pain, hemorrhage, necrotic odor, and often a pseudomembrane. The condition may extend to the oral mucosa, tongue, palate, or pharynx. |
